The story in each game in the main series documents the events of the fictional martial arts tournament.  It was first began with a tournament hosted by a fighter named Rugal Bernstein who lure best fighters to compete setting to his trap to kill and turn them in to stone statues. The names of Terry Bogard, Ryo Sakazaki and Kyo Kusanagi became famous after appearing in the different tournament of the King of Fighters. One of my favorite tournament series was the rivalry of Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami added with the presence of the Orochi clan.
